Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 July 2026 · Effective: 15 July 2026

Flyerly is a free app that lets you follow local grocery, meat, and produce shops and see their weekly deals. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We built Flyerly to need as little of your information as possible — you don't even create an account to use it.

The short version

  • No sign-up. No name, email, or phone number required to use the app.
  • We don't track your location, and we don't sell or rent your data to anyone.
  • We store which shops you follow (so we can show their deals) and a notification token (so we can alert you when they post).
  • You can turn deal alerts off any time in the app's Settings, which deletes your notification token.
  • Vendors who log in to post flyers give us their email — that's covered in its own section below.

1. Who we are

Flyerly (“Flyerly,” “we,” “us”) operates the Flyerly mobile app and the website at flyerlyapp.ca, based in British Columbia, Canada. We are the organization responsible for the personal information described in this policy. For any privacy question, contact us at hacknhustle24@gmail.com.

This policy is written to align with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and BC's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

2. Information we collect

a. Shoppers (people using the app)

When you open Flyerly, we sign you in anonymously — a random ID is created for your device so the app can remember your choices. This ID is not linked to your name, email, or phone number, because we never ask for them. With it, we store:

WhatWhy we need it
Shops you followTo show that shop's deals in your feed and know who to notify when they post.
Notification tokenA token issued by Expo's push service that lets us notify you when a shop you follow publishes a new flyer. We store the token, whether your device is iOS or Android, and when it was last seen. Only collected if you turn deal alerts on.

If you scan a shop's QR code:the code sends you to the App Store, and we need a way to know which shop sent you once the app opens — otherwise the app can't follow it for you. So, at the moment you're sent to the App Store, we record the shop's name alongside a one-way scrambled form of your network address and your phone's general shape (iPhone or Android, OS version, screen size, time zone, language). When the app first opens it asks whether any of those match, follows that shop if one does, and tells you so with an Undo. These records are deleted after one hour, contain no readable network address, and are never linked to your anonymous ID, an account, or anything you do afterwards. Nothing about this is used for advertising or shared with anyone.

We do not collect your name, email, phone number, precise or background location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. We have no analytics, ad trackers, or crash-reporting SDKs in the app.

b. Vendors (shops and their staff)

If you run or work at a shop and log in to the vendor panel, we collect the information needed to run your account:

  • Your email address, which is your login and how we reach you about your account.
  • Your store's public details that you choose to publish: store name, description, address, phone, hours, logo, and the deals you post.
  • Standard security and access logs for the panel.

Information you publish about your store and deals is public by design — it's shown to shoppers in the app.

3. How we use information

  • To operate the core features: showing deals, managing follows, and sending the notifications you asked for.
  • To let vendors create, publish, and manage their flyers.
  • To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
  • To communicate with vendors about their account.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build advertising profiles. The app contains no ads and no purchases.

4. How we share information

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run Flyerly, and only as much as they need:

ProviderRole
SupabaseSecure database, authentication, and storage. Vendor invite and password links are generated here.
VercelHosting for our website and vendor panel.
ExpoOur push service. Deal alerts are sent to Expo, which passes them to Apple or Google for delivery to your device.

These providers may process data on servers outside Canada (for example, in the United States). We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of people using Flyerly.

5. Your choices and rights

  • Notifications:turn deal alerts on or off any time in the app's Settings. Turning them off deletes your notification token immediately.
  • Following: unfollow any shop at any time, which removes that record.
  • Access, correction, deletion: under Canadian privacy law you may ask what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or request its deletion. To delete your anonymous account and the shops you follow, email hacknhustle24@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
  • Vendors: you can edit your store information in the panel, or ask us to close your account and remove your data.

6. Data retention

We keep follows and notification tokens only while they're in use. Notification tokens that Expo reports as invalid are removed automatically after a send. Vendor account information is kept while the account is active and deleted within a reasonable period after an account is closed, unless we must keep it to meet a legal obligation.

7. Security

We protect information with database-level access controls (row-level security on every table), encryption in transit (HTTPS), restricted administrative access, and other safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit how much of it we hold in the first place.

8. Children

Flyerly is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because shoppers use the app without providing any identifying details, we do not collect age information.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Flyerly evolves. If we make a material change, we'll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify vendors by email. Continued use of Flyerly after a change means you accept the updated policy.
